Cervical dislocation in broilers is a manual or mechanical euthanasia technique in which the neck is rapidly dislocated at the atlanto‑occipital joint, causing immediate loss of consciousness and rapid death through cessation of brainstem function.

This is achieved by applying firm pressure at the base of the skull combined with a sharp pull or twist of the neck.
