Valgus–varus deformity (VVD) in broilers is an angular leg deformity. The long bones of the leg — usually the distal tibiotarsus and the tarsometatarsus—deviate either laterally (valgus) or medially (varus). It is one of the most common skeletal disorders in broilers. The cause is not fully clarified, but strongly associated with genetics, rapid growth, impaired bone development. It results welfare problems.
