Newcastle disease (ND) in broilers is a severe, highly contagious viral disease caused by virulent avian paramyxovirus type 1 (APMV-1). It affects the respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and in its virulent forms can cause very high mortality. ND remains one of the most economically devastating diseases in global poultry production.
