Avian metapneumovirus (aMPV) belongs to the family Pneumoviridae. It casues a respiratory disease in broilers. It is associated with swollen head syndrome (SHS) and upper-respiratory disease. It occurs in many broiler-producing countries. Although turkeys are more susceptible, aMPV remains an economically important pathogen in broiler production.
